“He possessed me. He owned me. I was the queen. He was the king. Checkmate.” ⭐️
Be still my heart, after nine Cora Reilly books, I finally found my favorite!
The masterpiece. The perfect story. The one I’ve been waiting for.
I’m so excited now, I can’t even gather my thoughts. I don’t know where to start.
In case you don’t remember or you didn’t know, everything starts with Fabiano’s need for revenge, by killing his father. The plan was to kidnap Dante’s niece, Serafina, the day of her wedding to an Outfit Underboss.
“Serafina was everything I’d hoped for and so much more. A queen in my game of chess, indeed. Noble and proud like a queen and arrogant and spoiled like one too. She made me want to break her.”
One of the things I loved the most about this story was Serafina’s strength, stubbornness, defiance and courage. I mean, she was Remo’s perfect match. There couldn’t have been any other woman capable of standing her ground with him. We always believe our characters are soul-mates and they’re meant to be together, but once you’ll read about Remo and Serafina, you’ll know for sure they’re the best example of that.
“And I swore to myself that no matter the price, no matter what it would cost me, one day I would be the one to bring Remo Falcone to his knees, the one to break the cruelest man I knew.”
Another amazing aspect is the actual plot. Finally, I have everything I want in a mafia romance. There’s enough action, drama, suspense, excitement, hotness, laughing and crying to make this book deserve 5⭐️ and more.
It was like a game of chess, every move was strategic, but the opponents sometimes underestimated each other, so the results were sometimes surprising. It was exciting waiting to see their next move.
“This was his game of chess; he was the king and I was the trapped queen that the Outfit needed to protect. He moved me into position for his last move: the kill. Check.”
Cora Reilly is exceptional in her ways of telling a story. She pulls you in and you won’t be able to escape. You’re beyond curious to find out about the side characters, counting the minutes until you get to their stories as well. We’re left to see what happens with Savio and Adamo, but I can’t wait for Samuel as well.
I’m addicted now and even if I read ten Cora Reilly books in a row, I want more and I want it now!
