One Secret. Multiple Casualties.
Everything Melody Callahan has ever been told about her past is a lie. Her father lied. Her husband lied. But like all secrets…they come out. Not only is her mother, Aviela, alive but she won’t stop until she tears down everything Liam and Melody have spent the past year building.
With a new target on their back and the media now focused on their family as the Presidential election approaches, Liam and Melody must fight on two battlefronts. Melody is torn between being in love with Liam and wanting to kill him for lying to her. Being in love and showing love are two different things in her world. Liam wants to do anything to protect his family even if that means hurting the people he loves.
Family is everything… but what happens when they’re out for your blood? Everything they have been through is nothing compared to what is coming...

“The truth will set you free, but first it will piss you off.” ⭐️

I forgot to mention before, but Ruthless People ends with a bit of a cliffy.
Besides the shit ton of questions left unanswered, there was also that small detail of having Senator Coleman – Olivia’s father running for President.

Thankfully, I got the answers I needed, but as my quote says it only pisses me off even more. Why? Because I simply can’t breathe anymore. This series will literally kill me. What was I thinking going once again through all this drama?

As it turns out, Melody’s mother is alive. She’s alive and she’s a psychopath who wants to kill her only child.

Not even that puppet Senator race for office was easy. 🙄 I’m talking assassinations, betrayals, hidden agendas and so much more.
Oh, and that motherfucking bitch Olivia!!! She’s Neal’s wife, Liam’s older brother. Either I’m becoming a tiny monster or she really deserves a slow and painful death!!!

I feel like this second book is more of a “bridge” between what was revealed in the previous one and what’s yet to come. There’s less focus on mafia business and Mel & Liam’s relationship and more scrambling for answers as to why was Aviela’s playing with them to the point that she got my ruthless merciless bloody royal mobster couple fucking scarred for their lives!!!

On the plus side, their relationship wasn’t changed. 8% in and she shots him again, the colorful banter is still there, they still have wild-hot-out-of-this-world sex and they still love each other.

“The first time I kissed you, I was shot in the thigh. The first time we had sex, I was shot in arm. You seem to like me bloody, Mrs. Callahan.”

“You’ve never wished your life was simple?” “It is. I get what I want and if you stand in my way, I will wipe you off the face of the earth, then go after everyone who shares your DNA. Simple.” I smiled. He smirked as well. “Now you’re just trying to turn me on.”

“Rule number six: sometimes in order to win, you have to lose.”

Well, thank you Ms. McAvoy for making me lose my shit! Thank God I started to remember things from four years ago when I first read this, otherwise I wouldn’t have survived this series.
Should I even mention that it ends in a painful cliffhanger? Way worse than the previous one?
Stay tuned, I’m jumping to the next.
