Rock Chick Regret Series: Rock Chick #7
on May 28, 2013
Sadie Townsend is known by all as The Ice Princess and she’s worked hard to earn her reputation. Her father, a now-incarcerated Drug Lord, has kept her under his thumb her whole life and she’s learned enough from living in his world to give everyone the cold shoulder. But one inebriated night, she shows the Real Sadie to the undercover agent she knows is investigating her father, the handsome Hector Chavez, and he knows he’ll stop at nothing to have her.
Hector makes one (huge) mistake; he waits for Sadie to come to him. Tragedy strikes and Sadie’s got a choice, she can retreat behind her Ice Fortress or she can embrace the Rock Chick/Hot Bunch World. Guided by Hector, the Rock Chicks, the Hot Bunch and her new gay roommates, Buddy and Ralphie, Sadie negotiates a life out from under her father’s thumb, a life that includes poison, arson and learning how to make s’mores.
Once again, Kristen Ashley rocks my world. If i didn’t love her so much and trusted her to write me a great story, I would have dropped this one at 10%. I cried my eyes out and I couldn’t believe what was happening. KA broke my heart in million tiny pieces, so that she can put them together and having fun doing that. Isn’t that plain cruel or what?
Let me explain. Our newest Rock Chick is Sadie Townsend. She’s the daughter or a former drug lord, who was currently in prison after Hector Chavez (undercover DEA agent at that time – now a member in Lee Nightingale’s crew of Hot Guys) brought him down. She was the Ice Princess, because she thought it was best guarding her heart and soul, instead of exposing them to hurt, breaking and suffering. Not to mention she was trying to please her father because she was terrified of him and blaming him for her mother leaving her many years ago.
Now, the problem was that some really bad guys were after her. She asked for Lee’s protection, he refused her. Later that night she stumbled into Nightingale’s garage, in her nightgown, covered in blood, bruises, broken ribs…… Don’t click on the View Spoiler »she was raped and brutally beaten by those bad guys she was requesting protection from
if you want to protect your heart.
Besides all that, my soul shattered when she explained her armor, being totally alone and without any hope of finding her happiness.
As i said, Kristen Ashley likes playing with our emotions, so after this awful start of Rock Chick 7 she starts a modern day fairytale, where Prince Charming Hector “Oh My God” Chavez saves the Princess and they live happily ever after.
There aren’t too many things to be said about this one. I didn’t highlight it as much as the others, because I got wrapped up in the action. Many things happen, as it expected in a KA novel – shootings, kidnappings and plain old drama, along with amazing friends who are there for each other, alpha badass males protecting their women, friends and family and the romance between our hero & heroine. In this case, it was lovely to see Sadie’s armor cracking little by little and her becoming a true Rock Chick Princess.
I can’t rate it with less than 5★
even with the rape drama spoiling my fairytale « Hide Spoiler, because Kristen Ashley is too good at what she does – writing amazing stories. I love everything about this series, its characters and blending the action/drama with hot, sexy, beautiful romance.
